National Assembly: Deputy Patsy Lee joins the Vamos bloc

Panama's legislative landscape has seen a shift with the incorporation of Deputy Patsy Lee Rentería into the independent Vamos bloc. Lee Rentería, who represents the Popular Party in the National Assembly, announced her move on Monday, July 13. The Vamos bloc highlighted that her addition reinforces their dedication to advancing an agenda focused on transparency, citizen engagement, accountability, and responsible work for Panama.

Since 2024, Lee Rentería has expressed alignment with the principles of the Vamos Independent bloc, emphasizing her commitment to serving citizens. The group extended a warm welcome, wishing her success in this new phase. Although nominated by the Popular Party for the National Assembly in 2024, Lee Rentería, representing circuit 13-4 in La Chorrera, has consistently stated her independent roots and has never been formally registered with the party.

For her first two years as a deputy, Lee Rentería chose not to formally join any bloc to maintain her independence. However, she established strategic alliances with Vamos and deputies from MOCA. Her integration into Vamos follows the departure of Neftalí Zamora and Manuel Samaniego from the coalition, who cited "independence of criteria" as their reason for leaving. Several other deputies, including Manuel Cheng, Betserai Richards, and Carlos Saldaña, have also left the Vamos coalition in recent years.
