National gymnast intubated after falling on his neck during training in Bolu

National gymnast Bahadır Çimen, 16, has been placed on a ventilator in Ankara after sustaining a serious neck injury during a training session in Bolu. The incident occurred Tuesday evening at the Murat Canbaş Gymnastics Hall in Karaçayır Mahallesi.

Çimen, who has won Turkish championships and achieved success in international competitions, lost his balance while practicing on the high bar and fell directly onto his neck. Emergency medical teams were dispatched to the scene. After receiving initial treatment at the location, Çimen was transported by ambulance to İzzet Baysal Education and Research Hospital.

Following surgery at the hospital, Çimen was transferred to Ankara for further examination and treatment. Although his initial surgery was reported as successful, doctors in Ankara decided to intubate him in the intensive care unit. His treatment is ongoing.
