Naturalized Figure Skater Kwon Ye Continues Career with Korean-American Partner

Figure skater Kwon Ye, who previously represented South Korea at the Olympics in ice dance, is set to continue her competitive career with a new partner. Kwon Ye announced on her social media that she has formed a new ice dance pair with Korean-American skater Kim Ki-hyun.

"I look forward to the journey we will walk together. Please give us your support," Kwon Ye stated, expressing her anticipation for the upcoming season. The pair aims to once again compete under the South Korean flag, seeking to earn a spot on the national team.

Kwon Ye, originally of Chinese-Canadian descent, had been competing with Lim Ha-na since 2021, achieving Olympic qualification for the 2026 Milan-Cortina d'Ampezzo Winter Games through special naturalization in December 2024. However, the partnership dissolved in April, with Lim Ha-na forming a new team representing Canada. Kwon Ye's decision to continue with Kim Ki-hyun means she will pursue her career representing South Korea, although she is ineligible to compete as a national representative during the 2026-27 season.
