Naucalpan Parking Meters Remain Suspended

Parking meters installed in the Zona Azul area of Ciudad Satélite remain wrapped in black plastic, three weeks after the Naucalpan government suspended charges for using the spaces.

The tariff signs have been removed from the poles, leaving only the metal structures, El Universal observed during a visit. The municipality formally announced the suspension on August 17, saying it would review the conditions for providing the service.

During the review, officials said they would listen to residents, merchants and users before deciding on changes to the parking-space management project. The suspension followed protests by Ciudad Satélite residents and a petition organized by the neighborhood association, which collected more than 2,000 signatures against the project.

Naucalpan’s urban development director, Nina Carolina Izábal Martínez, said at a July news conference that the program would restart with the company NauPark. The plan called for 5,000 parking spaces across seven areas: El Mirador, Naucalpan Centro, Industrial Alce Blanco, Centro Comercial Satélite, Lomas de Tecamachalco, Zona Azul and Boulevares.
