NBA forward Jonathan Kuminga signs two-year deal with Minnesota Timberwolves

Jonathan Kuminga, a prominent forward in the NBA, is set to join the Minnesota Timberwolves, departing from the Atlanta Hawks. The move comes after Kuminga received multiple offers from various teams but ultimately opted for a shorter-term deal with Minnesota.

According to ESPN, Kuminga, a free agent, has signed a two-year contract valued at $13 million (approximately 17.9 billion Korean won). This acquisition bolsters Minnesota's forward lineup, adding him to a roster that already includes stars like LaMelo Ball, Anthony Edwards, Jaden McDaniels, and Rudy Gobert.

Despite interest from other franchises such as the Los Angeles Lakers, Chicago Bulls, and Portland Trail Blazers, Kuminga's decision to join Minnesota was reportedly influenced by the team's star player, Anthony Edwards, who also played a role in recruiting him. This suggests a strategic move by the Timberwolves to strengthen their core.

Kuminga entered the professional league in 2021 as the seventh overall pick in the NBA draft. He spent the initial five years of his career with the Golden State Warriors before being traded to the Atlanta Hawks at the deadline last season. During his tenure with the Hawks, he averaged 12.2 points per game in 16 regular-season appearances.
