NCDMB Lauds Oil Firm, Brentex, on $50m Steel Pipe Facility, Assures of Industry Patronage

The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has lauded Brentex Petroleum Services Limited for significant progress on its $50 million Steel Pipe Induction Bending and Coating Facility. Located at the Federal Ocean Terminal in Onne Port, Rivers State, the facility is described as a landmark industrial project and a major step in establishing Nigeria as a hub for oil and gas logistics, engineering, and manufacturing.

Upon completion, the Brentex facility is expected to become Africa's first fully integrated plant capable of handling steel pipes from 2 to 48 inches in diameter, offering services like induction bending, heat treatment, testing, and coating. The project has already attracted over $26 million in investments and is seen by NCDMB as a direct response to the need for in-country capacity in specialized pipeline engineering.

NCDMB Executive Secretary Felix Ogbe congratulated Brentex for its investment and commitment to developing indigenous capacity. He emphasized that the project aligns with the goal of retaining value, creating jobs, and strengthening Nigeria's position as a leading energy services hub. The agency urged Brentex to maintain high standards of quality and operational excellence, noting the facility's potential to become a flagship Nigerian Content asset.

Brentex Managing Director Chidi Nzerem acknowledged NCDMB's decade-long support, stating it has been instrumental to the project's progress. He indicated the facility is scheduled to become fully operational in the last quarter of 2027, advancing the objectives of the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development Act of 2010.
