NDA graduates 444 cadets, 3,064 postgraduates

The Nigerian Defence Academy is preparing to graduate 444 cadets and 3,064 postgraduate students at its 36th convocation ceremony in Kaduna on September 24.

The cadets from the 73 Regular Course completed five years of training, including four years of academic study and one year of full military training. They will receive Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Engineering degrees across 23 departments. One of the graduates is an allied cadet from Congo-Brazzaville.

The graduating class includes 152 cadets from the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, 53 from Engineering and Technology, 128 from Science, 56 from Management Studies and 55 from Military Science and Interdisciplinary Studies. Nineteen cadets earned First Class degrees, while 156 received Second Class Upper, 222 received Second Class Lower and 47 received Third Class degrees.

The postgraduate graduates comprise 160 PhD students, 2,132 master’s students and 769 postgraduate diploma students. The academy will also recognize its best performers, including five faculty-level best graduating cadets, 23 departmental best graduates, five students with the best research projects and the overall best graduating cadet in academics.

Former Chief of Defence Staff retired Gen. Leo Irabor will deliver the convocation lecture on civil-military relations, governance and national security. Vice President Kashim Shettima is expected to attend as special guest of honour, alongside senior military commanders and representatives of key education agencies. The academy will confer honorary degrees on Proforce chairman Adetokunbo Ogundeyin and AA Rano Group chairman Auwalu Rano.
