NDC disowns candidates’ list circulating on social media

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has issued a strong denial regarding a list of purported candidates for upcoming elections in Imo, Abia, and Anambra states that has been circulating on social media. The party's National Secretary, Ikenna Enekweizu, stated on Friday that the lists are fake, unauthorized, and did not originate from the NDC's national headquarters.

Enekweizu urged the public and party members to disregard the circulating documents, emphasizing that the NDC has already submitted the official list of candidates to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) through the legally prescribed channels. The party is committed to transparency and ensuring that only legitimate candidates represent its interests in the elections.

The general public, especially members of the NDC in Imo, Abia, Anambra and other affected states, are hereby urged to disregard the lists of candidates widely circulating on social media as the authentic lists of our party’s candidates from the aforementioned states. The said lists are fake and did not emanate from the party headquarters.

The NDC alleges that the fake lists are being circulated by 'mischief makers' who intend to create confusion and distract the party from its activities. The party has initiated an investigation to identify the source of these fabrications and understand how the information was leaked. Enekweizu stated that these actions are desperate attempts to sow discord and disrupt the party's progress.

Despite these attempts at disruption, the NDC reassured its members of its unwavering commitment to internal cohesion and its broader objective of providing a viable alternative political platform for Nigerians. The party aims to move forward united, focusing on its electoral goals without being sidetracked by misinformation.

Such lists in circulation are being peddled by mischief makers and those who do not wish the party well. However, the party is investigating the sources of such fabrications and leakages as they are desperate attempts to cause ill will and distractions within the party.
