NDLEA chief visits officers injured in Abuja mob attack, vows justice

Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (retd.), Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), visited two agency officers receiving treatment at the National Hospital in Abuja. The officers sustained injuries during a mob attack on May 15 while conducting a raid on a suspected drug den in the Dawaki area of the Federal Capital Territory.

During his visit on Monday, Marwa offered sympathy to the injured officers, Ayegh Zachariah and Shehu Ibrahim. He assured them of the NDLEA management's full support and committed to covering their welfare and medical expenses until their complete recovery. Marwa emphasized that the agency would exhaust all avenues to ensure the perpetrators of the "cowardly attack" are apprehended and face justice.

The Agency will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that those responsible for this cowardly attack are arrested and brought to justice.

"An attack on our officers is an attack on the state, and it will not go unpunished," Marwa declared. He lauded the officers for their courage, dedication, and professionalism during the operation, recognizing their sacrifices in the ongoing fight against substance abuse and illicit drug trafficking as invaluable to Nigeria.

To acknowledge their efforts, Marwa presented the injured officers with Letters of Commendation, personally signed by him, along with support packages to aid their recovery. He also commended the NDLEA's medical team and National Hospital staff for their swift response and care, which helped stabilize the officers. Marwa reiterated the NDLEA's unwavering commitment to combating drug trafficking and dismantling drug networks nationwide, despite facing attacks from criminal elements.
