NDLEA, soldiers recover 604kg of cannabis, arrest nine suspects in Edo

The Edo State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), in a joint operation with the Nigerian Army, has seized a significant quantity of cannabis weighing 604.5 kilograms. The raid targeted a notorious drug hub in Ewe Luleha, Owan West Local Government Area.

NDLEA Commander Mitchell Ofoyeju stated that the operation resulted in the seizure of 65 bags of skunk cannabis. Authorities have launched a manhunt for a suspected drug kingpin identified only as Sunday, who is believed to be in hiding. Ofoyeju expressed confidence that the suspect would be apprehended.

The operation carried out by men of the NDLEA and personnel of the Nigerian Army resulted in the seizure of 65 bags of dried weeds that tested positive for skunk cannabis, weighing 604.5kg.

In addition to the large seizure, the NDLEA also arrested nine suspected drug peddlers in separate operations across different hotspots in the state. Among those apprehended were individuals found with various illicit substances, including cannabis, Loud, Colorado, and methamphetamine. The NDLEA commended the collaboration and emphasized its ongoing commitment to combating drug trafficking in the state.
