NDLEA uncovers 498kg cannabis hidden in Edo shrine

Nigeria's National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has seized nearly half a ton of cannabis hidden within a shrine in Edo State. The discovery, made on May 22, 2026, in Igwe Community, Owan East Local Government Area, also included nine kilograms of cannabis seeds.

In related operations within the same community, NDLEA arrested two individuals. Sunday Oghaimen, 50, was found with 945 grams of cannabis and 19 grams of Tramadol. Esther Igbafe, 33, was apprehended with 874 grams of cannabis, 19 grams of Tramadol, and three grams of Swinol. All suspects are in custody, and the seized drugs have been secured.
