Nelson Tapia to continue coaching career at Imperial Unido

Nelson Tapia, a former goalkeeper for the Chilean national team, is set to begin his coaching career with Imperial Unido. The club competes in the fourth tier of Chilean football, where it is currently battling to avoid relegation.

Tapia left his previous coaching position at Constitución Unido, a team in the Tercera A division, and after a month-long search, secured the role with Imperial Unido. The team, located in the La Araucanía Region, is in a precarious position, currently sitting 10th in the league standings with 13 points. This places them far from contention for promotion.

According to Novena Pasión, a local media outlet, Tapia's appointment was imminent. "After the confirmation of Mauro Astrada's departure, and pending official club announcement, according to Novena Pasión, Nelson Tapia will take charge of the Imperial Unido bench starting this Tuesday, June 30," the publication reported. Tapia's immediate challenge will be to steer the team away from the relegation zone.
