Nepal dispatches veterinary supplies to flood-affected livestock in Nuwakot

Nepal's Ministry of Agriculture, Forests and Environment has deployed a technical team to Nuwakot district to address the health risks posed to livestock by recent floods. The initiative aims to prevent potential disease outbreaks among animals affected by the natural disaster.

The team's primary objective is to provide essential veterinary health services and necessary assistance in flood-affected regions. Upon arrival, they visited the district, engaging in discussions with the assistant chief district officer of Nuwakot. During this meeting, officials were briefed on the ongoing efforts to rescue, provide relief, and treat livestock in the areas impacted by the floods.

Further consultations took place at the Veterinary Hospital and Livestock Services Expert Centre in Nuwakot. Here, the ministry's team officially handed over a crucial consignment of medicines, vaccines, and other vital veterinary health supplies. These provisions are specifically intended to help prevent and control infectious diseases, which are known to pose a high risk to livestock populations in the aftermath of floods.

The intervention underscores the government's commitment to mitigating the secondary impacts of natural disasters on the agricultural sector and ensuring the well-being of livestock, which are vital to the livelihoods of many communities in Nepal.
