Nepal Floods Leave 162 Dead, Over 1,300 Missing, Including Foreign Tourists

Devastating floods and landslides have ravaged Nepal, claiming at least 162 lives and leaving more than 1,300 people missing. The disaster struck Wednesday along the Nepal-China border, sweeping away everything in its path and devastating valleys in both countries.

In Nepal, the National Emergency Management Agency reported 823 people missing, including 579 tourists, of whom 393 are foreign nationals. The toll in China's Tibet region included 558 missing, with 260 foreigners among them. The Himalayan nation, a popular destination for trekkers and mountaineers, is now grappling with the scale of the tragedy.

International concern is mounting as the nationalities of many missing individuals are being clarified. France reported 80 of its citizens had registered their presence in Nepal, with others potentially in affected areas. Ukraine listed 53 citizens as missing, with a specific group of 46 tourists losing contact. Malaysia, the UK, South Korea, South Africa, the US, and Portugal have also reported citizens among the missing, highlighting the global reach of this disaster.
