The scale of the devastation marks it as the worst natural disaster to hit Nepal in 11 years. The disaster has also affected China's Tibet Autonomous Region, with reports of three deaths and 558 missing due to landslides near the border. Combined figures suggest a grim reality of over 1,400 individuals unaccounted for.

Rescue operations are underway, but authorities are encountering significant difficulties. The disaster sites are located in vast mountainous areas, making access challenging. The terrain is heavily covered with rocks and mud, hindering search and rescue teams' efforts to locate survivors.
