Nepal opens applications for 2,300 caregiver jobs in Israel

Nepal is seeking 2,300 individuals to fill caregiver positions in Israel, a move aimed at addressing labor shortages in the Israeli care sector. The Department of Foreign Employment has opened applications for these long-term care roles, with a significant 60% of the positions allocated for women.

The recruitment process adheres to a labor agreement between Nepal and Israel, prioritizing government channels. The department announced that 1,000 selected workers will be dispatched immediately, with final selections made via a lucky draw. These caregivers will be responsible for individuals with severe physical and mental disabilities, working under contracts up to five years.

To be eligible, applicants must be between 25 and 45 years old, weigh at least 45 kilograms, and have completed at least Grade 10. They also need specific vocational training in Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM) or CMA-related subjects, or have completed Grade 12 and a three-month caregiver course. A crucial requirement is passing an English language test specified by Israel.

While selected workers will receive a monthly salary of 6,443 Israeli shekels (approximately $347,000 Nepali rupees), they will be responsible for their food, accommodation, and travel costs. Israel has been recruiting from Nepal since August 2022, with the program expanding due to increasing demand.
