Nepal private schools partner with Kumon to boost math education

Private schools in Nepal are set to enhance their mathematics education through a new partnership between the Private and Boarding Schools’ Organisation Nepal (PABSON) and KUMON Nepal, a Japanese educational program. The agreement, signed in Kathmandu, aims to introduce KUMON's renowned student-centered self-learning method to PABSON's member schools.

This collaboration is driven by the continuous search for effective and innovative learning approaches within Nepal's private school sector. As the world rapidly advances into a digital era, the need for educational methods that place students at the core of the learning process and cultivate independent learning abilities has become paramount. KUMON's philosophy aligns with this need, emphasizing the development of concentration, discipline, confidence, and problem-solving skills.

Nepal’s private schools have been continuously exploring effective and innovative learning approaches that can improve educational quality and prepare students to face the demands of the emerging digital era. In this context, the need for a learning method that places students at the centre of the learning process and develops their ability to learn independently has become increasingly important.

With a history spanning over 70 years and a presence in more than 60 countries, KUMON supports approximately four million students globally. Its core principle is not just to impart knowledge but to empower students with the ability to learn independently. PABSON President Krishna Adhikari shared his positive personal experience with KUMON, recalling his admiration for the program's effectiveness in developing academic skills and confidence in students, including his own children, during a visit to the USA in 2008. His decision to introduce KUMON in Nepal stems from this firsthand appreciation.

Ganesh Man Lama, Chairman of IGC Business Holding, stressed that education should extend beyond exam results. He advocated for nurturing students who can think critically, solve problems, and engage in lifelong learning.
