Nepal to Consult 25 Agencies on Malaysia Worker Recruitment

Nepal's Ministry of Youth, Labour and Employment is set to meet with 25 Nepali recruitment agencies approved by Malaysia to send workers abroad. The ministry aims to discuss the implications of Malaysia's recent decision to restrict recruitment of Nepali workers to only these listed agencies. Spokesperson Pitambar Ghimire stated that the meeting, scheduled for Monday, will include representatives from the Nepal Association of Foreign Employment Agencies. "We need to hear their views with representatives of the association and the 25 recruitment agencies," Ghimire said. Malaysia's Ministry of Human Resources announced on Saturday, August 22, that only agencies listed in its Foreign Worker Centralised Management System (FWCMS) will be permitted to recruit foreign workers. Nepal has 25 agencies on this list, alongside 25 from Bangladesh, 23 from Cambodia, and others from India, Myanmar, Pakistan, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Vietnam. Following the announcement, Labour Minister Ramji Yadav engaged in discussions with Malaysia's acting ambassador to Nepal.
