Nepal Women's Cricket Team Out of Asia Cup Race After Quarterfinal Loss to Thailand

Nepal's aspirations for the ACC T20 Asia Cup have been dashed after a significant defeat to Thailand in the quarterfinal match of the ACC Women's Premier Cup. The team lost by 56 runs, failing to chase down Thailand's target of 131.

In the match held at the Bayuemas Oval Cricket Stadium in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Nepal was bowled out for 74 runs in their allotted 20 overs. Rubina Khatri remained unbeaten with 20 runs, while Soni Pakhrin scored 15 and Samjhana Khadka and Sita Ranamagar added 12 each. No other Nepali batters reached double figures.

Thailand had earlier opted to bat first after winning the toss, setting a competitive total of 130 for the loss of four wickets. Nanapat Khoncharooyankai was the standout performer for Thailand, scoring an unbeaten 62 runs. Fanita Mai contributed 26, Chanida Suthiruwang made 16, and captain Narumoi Chaivai added 8.

In the bowling department, Nepal's Kavita Kunwar, Rubina Chhetri, and Riya Sharma each managed to take one wicket. This loss follows another recent setback for Nepali women's cricket, as they were also eliminated from the Asian Games qualifiers after a defeat to China earlier in June.
