Netanyahu doubts Iran deal, cites 'savages'; son 'targeted'

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has voiced strong doubts about the possibility of achieving a "good agreement" with Iran, describing the current leadership as "savages." In a video released by his office, Netanyahu recounted a discussion with U.S. President Donald Trump during a July meeting in Washington. They explored three potential strategies regarding Iran: diplomacy, military action, and what Netanyahu termed an "intensification of the siege."

"I tell you: you cannot reach an agreement," Netanyahu stated, expressing his skepticism about negotiating with the Iranian regime. He indicated that Trump's recent announcement of expanded sanctions against Iran constituted an "intensification of the siege," not directly against Iran itself, but against those supporting the regime. Netanyahu emphasized the importance of this action against the "terrible dictatorship."

During their conversation, Netanyahu also informed Trump that Israel would be prepared to defend itself if attacked by Iran. The third option discussed, "tightening the siege," was presented as a decision for Trump to make. The Prime Minister's remarks highlight Israel's persistent concerns about Iran's nuclear program and regional activities.

Adding another layer of tension, Israeli media reported an alleged Iranian plot to assassinate Yair Netanyahu, the Prime Minister's son, while he was in Florida. Citing U.S. law enforcement sources, reports suggest Israeli intelligence learned in December of Iran's plan. According to one source, Iranian agents were allegedly in the Miami area to surveil Yair, who was reportedly instructed to leave Florida immediately and return to Israel. He has since remained in Israel.
