Netanyahu: No Diplomatic Deal Possible with 'Savages' in Iran

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that diplomatic agreements with Iran are impossible, referring to its leaders as "savages." He expressed deep skepticism about the possibility of reaching any accord with the Islamic Republic through diplomatic means, while simultaneously endorsing the new economic pressure campaign initiated by U.S. President Donald Trump.

Netanyahu recounted a recent meeting with Donald Trump where they discussed negotiations with Iran. "I doubt that with this gang over there, with these savages, we can reach an agreement. I tell you, no agreement can be concluded," Netanyahu stated during an event on Tuesday evening.

A staunch critic of the 2015 international agreement on Iran's nuclear program, from which the United States withdrew three years later, Netanyahu has long been skeptical of diplomatic solutions with Tehran. However, he carefully avoided openly criticizing Trump when the U.S. president sought a negotiated exit from the Middle East conflict, which escalated in late February following Israeli-American strikes against Iran. Israel also had to accept a U.S.-imposed ceasefire in April.

The United States announced an "economic D-day" on Monday, aiming to cripple Iran's already sanctioned economy. Netanyahu publicly backed this economic pressure campaign on Tuesday. For years, the Israeli leader has advocated for a U.S. attack on Iran, which supports armed groups like Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in Palestine, the latter responsible for the unprecedented attack on Israel on October 7, 2023.
