Netflix confirms new Inbetweeners film as original stars return

Netflix has confirmed a new Inbetweeners film, with the original cast returning and production due to begin on Monday.

Simon Bird, James Buckley, Blake Harrison and Joe Thomas will reprise their roles as Will McKenzie, Jay Cartwright, Neil Sutherland and Simon Cooper. The film will be the third instalment in the movie series, following sequels released in 2011 and 2014.

The coming-of-age sitcom originally ran for three seasons on E4 between 2008 and 2010. It followed the trials and misadventures of four suburban teenagers at the fictional Rudge Park Comprehensive. The show has continued to attract new fans through clips shared on social media and through the earlier films.

Netflix accompanied the announcement with a teaser showing the four friends returning to their iconic yellow Fiat. They climb into the tiny car, but Simon struggles to start the engine. After some encouragement, it starts and they drive out of what appears to be a storage unit.
