Louis van Gaal is stepping down as Netherlands coach, citing his wife's illness as a reason for prioritizing health over football.

"There are things more important than football, and that is health," Van Gaal stated, reflecting on the past few years. He credited his wife, Bartina, for her constant support and encouragement throughout his work, even while battling her illness.
