Network School in Forest City Closed After Operator's License Revoked

The Network School, a co-living and co-working technology commune located in Forest City, Johor, appears to have shut down after its operator's business license was revoked. A temporary closure notice was posted on the main entrance of the building on July 22, and signboards bearing the school's name were removed or covered.

The Iskandar Puteri City Council (MBIP) announced on July 21 that it had revoked the business license of NSO Malaysia Sdn Bhd, the operator of The Network School. The council ordered the company to cease all operations effective July 22, citing the company's failure to comply with licensing conditions and the approved use of its premises. Enforcement action was taken under existing by-laws.

MBIP also revoked the company's advertising license, as the business activities conducted at the Teluk Bintang campus differed from those approved under its office-use license. The Network School, founded by American entrepreneur Balaji Srinivasan, catered to digital nomads and remote workers, with memberships starting at US$1,500 per month. Allegations surfaced on July 14 that Israeli nationals had participated in the program using passports from other countries.
