New Ancient Bryozoan Species Discovered in Southern New Zealand Waters

Several species of bryozoans, ancient marine creatures with lace-like skeletons, have been discovered in southern New Zealand waters.

The discovery challenges scientists’ belief that only two hornerid varieties remained. Bryozoans are small marine invertebrates that often remain hidden and have existed for more than 250 million years. They also create habitats used by other organisms.
