New Chinese SUV in Argentina boasts spacious interior and minimal physical buttons

The automotive industry in Argentina has seen a significant influx of Chinese brands, partly due to a government tax benefit allowing the import of certain electrified vehicles with a Free On Board (FOB) value under US$16,000 without the 35% import tariff. This has paved the way for brands like DFSK, part of Seres Group and allied with Dongfeng, to enter the market.

DFSK has launched the E5 Plus, an updated version of its E5 hybrid SUV, in Argentina. While dimensions remain similar to the previous model, 4.76 meters long, 1.865 meters wide, and 1.71 meters high, the wheelbase has increased to 2.785 meters, enhancing interior space. A notable feature for passengers is the flat floor in the second row, improving comfort, especially for the middle seat occupant in the seven-seat configuration.

The E5 Plus boasts a redesigned front with a cleaner, more technological aesthetic, featuring LED lighting signatures. The brand's identity is now clearer with the DFSK acronym replacing the previous, less recognizable logo. It also comes equipped with 19-inch two-tone alloy wheels, a panoramic glass sunroof with electric opening, an electric tailgate, rain-sensing wipers, and electrically heated and folding mirrors.

Inside, the E5 Plus features an 8.8-inch digital dashboard and a large 15.6-inch central multimedia touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility. The driver's seat is electrically adjustable for comfort and optimal driving posture. The vehicle includes a 50W wireless charger, WiFi access, a 13-speaker Hi-Fi audio system, and ambient lighting with 256 color options.

A striking aspect of the E5 Plus is its minimalist interior, with virtually no physical buttons except for the hazard lights. Most functions are controlled via the central touchscreen, contributing to a modern and uncluttered cabin experience.
