New Customs Controller at PTML Promises Integrity, Due Process in Trade Facilitation

DC Nura Ibrahim Miko has formally taken charge as the Acting Controller of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Ports Terminal Multiservices (PTML) Command. He pledged to uphold integrity and adhere strictly to due process while ensuring the seamless facilitation of trade.

During the handover ceremony, outgoing Controller Joseph Anani reported that the command had collected over N178 billion in revenue. Miko assured officers, men, and stakeholders that his leadership would prioritize integrity and trade facilitation, with due process being a non-negotiable aspect. "Under my watch Integrity will be non-negotiable; Trade facilitation will remain our priority. Due process will be strictly respected. Teamwork will be our greatest strength. Results will be achieved through collaboration, not fear," Miko stated.

Miko described the PTML Command as well-organized and expressed his commitment to building upon the successes of his predecessor. He also called for continued cooperation from sister agencies and stakeholders, emphasizing that effective port operations rely on inter-agency synergy, mutual respect, and a shared dedication to trade facilitation, revenue generation, and national security.

The new Acting Controller affirmed the command's openness to constructive engagement and reiterated his commitment to transparency, accessibility, and a level playing field for all participants. He aims to sustain PTML's position as a model command for efficiency and integrity through collaborative efforts with stakeholders. Miko also thanked the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, for his confidence and pledged to uphold the policy thrust of Innovation, Consolidation, and Collaboration.
