New flight route connects Jamaica and Guadeloupe

Sangster International Airport (SIA) in Montego Bay, Jamaica, has welcomed the inaugural flight of Liat Air from Pointe-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe, marking the commencement of a new year-round route. The service will operate twice weekly, on Tuesdays and Saturdays, enhancing direct connectivity between the two destinations.

Today marks a historic occasion with the first direct flight between Montego Bay and Guadeloupe, and is another step in strengthening connectivity between Jamaica and the Eastern Caribbean.

Shane Munroe, CEO of MBJ Airports Limited, operator of SIA, highlighted the new route as a significant step in the airport's strategy to expand its network. "Attracting new carriers and additional destinations remains central to our strategy," Munroe stated, emphasizing that the Guadeloupe route strengthens ties within the Eastern Caribbean and supports trade and tourism objectives.

Trade and tourism are important objectives for us, but so is connecting our cultures, Jamaican and Guadeloupean, and by extension, Antiguan. To Liat Air, we offer our continued support, and we look forward to this being one of many more routes to come.

She added that the service provides seamless access not only from the Caribbean but also from the European corridor, deepening integration across the Greater Caribbean.

The introduction of the Liat Air service is the latest in a series of route expansions at Sangster International Airport this year, following the launch of Wingo's direct service to Medellín, Colombia. The airport continues to focus on increasing travel options and fostering opportunities for businesses and communities across the region.
