New Host Viviane Gabriel Aims to Connect Viewers with "A bon Entendeur"

Viviane Gabriel is stepping into a new role as the host of "A bon Entendeur" (ABE), one of Switzerland's longest-running consumer affairs programs. Taking the helm from Tuesday evening, Gabriel brings her expertise as a journalist to the show, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year.

Gabriel, 47, who previously served as the head of the economics, consumption, and technology desk for TV news, aims to foster a closer relationship with the show's audience. Her strategy involves a significant shift: recording episodes with a live audience present. This move is intended to "break the fourth wall" and create a more interactive experience for viewers.

Long-time viewers of RTS1 may recognize Gabriel. She hosted the program "Couleurs locales" for four years starting in 2011 and has made occasional appearances presenting the 12:45 and 19:30 news programs since 2024. Her transition to ABE signifies a new chapter for the show, promising continued rigorous testing, in-depth investigations, and practical advice for consumers, now with a more direct connection to the public.
