New investigation into İBB case regarding social media sharing

The Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has launched a new investigation concerning the social media dissemination of images captured during the trial of Ekrem İmamoğlu. The probe was initiated ex officio after it was determined that footage from İmamoğlu's hearing at the Marmara Penitentiary Institutions was shared on social media platforms. In a statement, the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office announced that an investigation has been opened against individuals who unauthorizedly recorded and shared audio or video content from the courtroom proceedings. These actions fall under Article 286 of the Turkish Penal Code (TCK). The hearing in question was part of the case against İmamoğlu, presided over by the Istanbul 33rd High Criminal Court under case number 2026/208. The footage was reportedly taken in courtroom No. 1 within the Marmara Penitentiary Institutions Campus.
