New low-cost airline Fly2Galicia to launch in December with fares from 21.50 euros

A new low-cost airline, Fly2Galicia, is set to launch in December, aiming to connect the Spanish region of Galicia with eight cities across Europe.

One-way tickets for flights commencing December 1 are already on sale, with prices starting at 21.50 euros. Return flights will incur an additional charge of 19 euros. The airline's inaugural flights will depart from Rosalía de Castro Airport in Santiago de Compostela.

Initially, Fly2Galicia will not operate its own aircraft. Instead, it will utilize a "wet lease" arrangement, meaning it will charter a plane and its crew from an unnamed European carrier. This model allows new airlines to launch routes without significant upfront investment in their own fleet.

The announced destinations include Zaragoza, Alicante, Granada in Spain, as well as Milan, Venice, Munich, Prague, and Brussels. The airline aims to address the need for more direct air links between Galicia and major European urban centers. The new network may also appeal to pilgrims completing the Camino de Santiago, which traditionally ends in Santiago de Compostela.

Fly2Galicia also plans to introduce a loyalty program called the Fly2Galicia Miles Programme, where passengers can collect points for future flights. While the company has advertised for its own cabin crew, it remains unclear if they will also lease flight attendants from the partner carrier.
