Taipei City Councilor candidate Lai Yi-jen, a newcomer to politics, has stated that while the traditional role of the KMT party chairman is to support mayoral candidates, his own campaign will follow the party's directives. Lai Yi-jen and other candidates for Taipei city council recently posed for promotional photos with Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an, who is seen as the party's strongest "mother hen" in the upcoming elections.

Lai Yi-jen presented Chiang Wan-an with a small towel, which the mayor then wore around his waist. The candidate explained that the towel is a practical alternative to paper tissues for wiping sweat during hot weather, being reusable and leaving no residue. He expressed confidence that Chiang Wan-an will be the most powerful "mother hen" for the upcoming elections, anticipating that the opposition will target the mayor.
