New Taipei City Offers 88% Discount on Racket Sports for Father's Day

New Taipei City is rolling out a special Father's Day promotion, offering an 88% discount on racket sport courts at all 16 of its public sports centers. The "Dad Starts the Swing, The Whole Family Gets Moving" campaign runs from July 27 to August 8, encouraging families to engage in sports together.

To launch the initiative, Mayor Hou Yu-ih, accompanied by celebrity Jacky Wu and his children, visited the Sanxia Public Sports Center. They experienced the new AI tennis system, which simulates virtual opponents and provides instant feedback on players' performance, including swing speed and shot accuracy. Mayor Hou described the experience as fresh and exciting, noting that it generated a good sweat.

The AI tennis system, installed at the recently renovated Sanxia Public Sports Center, uses advanced technology to enhance training. It features a professional tennis tour-grade court surface and allows players to analyze their movements and improve their technique through data analysis. The system can adjust difficulty levels, making it accessible and enjoyable for players of all ages and skill levels.

"We want to encourage dads to get active," stated Mayor Hou. The discount applies to courts for table tennis, badminton, squash, pickleball, and tennis. With the Sanxia Public Sports Center conveniently located just a two-minute walk from Taipei University Station on the Sanying Line, the city hopes to attract more residents to utilize its sports facilities.
