New Taipei Mayor Leads Delegation to Chicago for Automation Exhibition

New Taipei City Mayor Hou Yu-ih is set to lead a delegation to Chicago, USA, from June 17th to 23rd, to participate in the "AUTOMATE 2026 North America Automation Technology Exhibition." A key highlight of the visit will be the opening ceremony of the "New Taipei Image Pavilion," a dedicated space organized by the city government.

This initiative marks New Taipei City as the sole Taiwanese city to establish such a pavilion at the exhibition. The city has brought together 20 local enterprises to showcase their advanced manufacturing capabilities to an international audience. The United States is a crucial export market for New Taipei, with exports totaling $46.5 billion last year, approximately 24% of which went to the U.S. Over 4,500 companies from the city directly export to the American market.

The participating companies represent a diverse range of technologies, including industrial AI applications, smart manufacturing, automation systems, industrial computers, edge computing, intelligent sensing and monitoring, and critical precision components. This collective effort aims to deepen international market cooperation by leveraging New Taipei's robust industrial ecosystem.

During his visit, Mayor Hou is also scheduled to tour FANUC America, a global leader in industrial automation, and HIWIN USA, the American base of Taiwan's prominent machine tool manufacturer, Hiwin Technologies Corp. These visits will provide insights into the latest trends in automation equipment and smart factory applications, as well as practical experiences of Taiwanese businesses operating in North America.

Beyond industrial exchanges, the delegation will visit Wrigley Field to study how Chicago utilizes landmark venues to drive local tourism and community engagement, offering valuable lessons for New Taipei's planned large stadium project. They will also examine Chicago's riverfront architecture and spatial planning, drawing international experience to enhance New Taipei's waterfront tourism and urban space development.
