New Taipei's Liusan Community Blooms with Lotus Flowers, Weaving a Summer Rural Tapestry

New Taipei City's Jishan District, specifically the Liusan Community, is currently a vibrant summer destination with its blooming lotus flowers. Known as "Shuishui Tian Zhuang" (Watery Farmland Village), the community has focused on environmental development. Local young farmers are cultivating high-quality lotus flowers using the pure water from the Sulfu Creek, transforming the area into a summer attraction for lotus viewing.

Located at the foot of Meiren Mountain, the Liusan Community offers a landscape blending mountains and sea. The area, particularly Liugu Village, benefits from fertile volcanic sandy soil, making it a prime location for "Tainong No. 66" sweet potatoes and azaleas. Nearby Sanjie Village is known for its crisp and sweet water bamboo.

The community preserves its residents' cultural heritage through sites like the century-old Shengde Temple, the nostalgic Rumeng Ganzi shop, and traditional laundry pavilions that reflect early rural life. In recent years, the community has embraced a "youth-elder co-creation" philosophy, enhancing elder care and companionship while connecting local residents and students to create vibrant rural murals and foster intergenerational community identity.

Visitors can reach the Liusan Community by taking the Taiwan Tourist Shuttle 716 Crown North Coast Line from Tamsui MRT Station to the Jishan District Office Station, then transferring to the Jishan District F931 bus. The community encourages a slow travel experience amidst the lotus fields, enjoying both natural beauty and rural culture. After viewing the flowers, visitors can explore nearby attractions like the Jishan Zhongshan Hot Spring Park and walk along Azalea Boulevard to experience the rich cultural heritage of the North Coast.
