New witness to crash: 'She plows down all the signs'

A new witness has described the moments leading up to the car crash involving Swedish lawmaker Katja Nyberg, stating her vehicle "plowed down all the signs." The witness, who was driving home from a family celebration in the Stockholm area in late 2025, saw Nyberg's car veer into an oncoming lane near a pedestrian crossing. "But she doesn't make it all the way across because she plows down all the signs," the witness recounted in a police interrogation. Nyberg reportedly stopped her car voluntarily. The witness approached her, observing that she seemed shaken but not under the influence of drugs. "She has just plowed down a couple of signs and is shaken and it's embarrassing and all that, I would say. It's nothing one is proud of when one has done it," the witness added. According to the witness, Nyberg mentioned losing concentration. The witness did not see any animals on the road, which Nyberg had alluded to. The witness advised Nyberg not to drive further, noting the damage to the car's front. Nyberg faces charges including drunk driving, several minor drug offenses, and two counts of driving without a license. Police found a bag of white powder in her purse at the arrest site, and subsequent tests revealed drugs in her blood and hair. A trial is scheduled for September 21.
