Newborn allegedly suffers severe burns in hospital incubator

A family in Riobamba, Ecuador, is seeking answers after their newborn baby allegedly suffered severe burns while in a hospital incubator. The parents report that their infant developed multiple lesions, described as third-degree burns, on the face, arms, hands, nose, and heel shortly after being placed in the incubator at the Hospital Provincial General Docente Riobamba.

According to reports, the baby was born on August 19 and was placed in the incubator by a medical intern. The mother stated that the infant was left unattended in the machine for several minutes. The family claims a doctor later explained that the incubator's temperature had become excessively high, causing the injuries.

The parents expressed deep concern over the lasting effects on their child, fearing potential damage to the baby's eyes and nerves. The discharge report from August 24 listed a diagnosis of pemphigus, a group of autoimmune diseases that cause blistering and sores on the skin and mucous membranes.

This case is expected to be investigated by authorities, requiring medical reports and official documentation. As of now, the hospital has not released any official statement addressing the family's allegations.
