Newborn baby girl abandoned in pink basket with adoption request letter

A newborn baby girl was discovered abandoned in a pink basket, accompanied by a poignant handwritten letter from her mother, in Lao Bao commune, Quang Tri province. The note pleaded with whoever found the child to adopt her, citing the mother's inability to provide care.

On June 12, residents Lê Thị Trang and Nguyễn Văn Tĩnh found the infant in Thuan 2 village, Lao Bao commune. They promptly took the baby to the Lao Bao Commune Health Station for care. Medical examinations revealed the baby girl, born on June 10, 2026, to be in normal health, weighing 3kg, with good reflexes and vital signs.

The basket contained clothing, a milk bottle, and the mother's letter, which stated, "The baby girl was born on June 10, 2026. I am unable to raise her, so I ask any family who finds her to please adopt the baby girl. I thank you and promise not to interfere with the adoptive family."

Lao Bao Commune People's Committee has issued a notice seeking the child's parents or relatives, with a deadline of June 19 to come forward. If no family members claim the child within this period, authorities will initiate legal procedures for abandoned children.

Currently, the baby is under the temporary care of Ms. Lê Thị Trang, awaiting the outcome of the search for her family.
