Newfoundland and Labrador grieves for two fishermen lost at sea after boat sinking

Newfoundland and Labrador is mourning the loss of two fishermen whose boat sank off the province's northern coast. The Canadian Coast Guard received a distress call Tuesday afternoon about a sunken vessel and three missing individuals near Brent’s Cove, a small community on the Baie Verte peninsula.

A search operation located two people in the water, one of whom had already died. A Cormorant helicopter later found a second deceased person on the shoreline. The province's premier, Tony Wakeham, stated that such tragedies at sea deeply affect Newfoundland and Labrador, where many communities rely heavily on the fishing industry.
