NGO Monitor Salud to hold free medical operation in Caraballeda on August 24

The trade union network Monitor Salud is organizing a free medical operation in Caraballeda, located in Venezuela's La Guaira state, on Monday, August 24. This initiative aims to provide essential healthcare services to residents affected by the earthquakes that struck on June 24, addressing the significant deficit in sanitary services along the central coast.

The medical consultations will be available to the public from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Calle Apamate in the Palmar Oeste sector. The operation will feature professionals specializing in seven key areas: Gynecology, Pediatrics, Traumatology, Dermatology, Psychology, Psychiatry, and Internal Medicine. This comprehensive approach seeks to cover a range of immediate health needs within the affected community.

The organization's effort is a direct response to the deterioration of hospital infrastructure in Caraballeda, which was damaged by the seismic events. While the Ministry of Health maintains a 24-hour primary care camp and the Hospital of Macuto, along with various NGOs, are managing the increased healthcare burden, Monitor Salud's outreach provides crucial additional support.

In the initial weeks following the earthquakes, international contingents from Japan and the United Kingdom established temporary field hospitals. However, with the withdrawal of these foreign missions, the responsibility for attending to the needs of the earthquake victims has increasingly fallen upon Venezuelan health personnel and local civil associations. Monitor Salud's operation signifies a continued commitment to supporting the recovery and well-being of the affected population.
