NH NongHyup honors veterans with 100,000 domestic chrysanthemums, promoting eco-friendly tributes

NH NongHyup, in collaboration with the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs and affiliated organizations, held an event to honor war veterans by offering 100,000 domestically grown chrysanthemums at the Seoul National Cemetery. The "One Chrysanthemum Offering" event, held on June 5, aimed to promote an eco-friendly mourning culture. Participants, including NH NongHyup Chairman Kang Ho-dong and NH NongHyup Bank President Kang Tae-young, along with approximately 100 employees and the NH NongHyup university student volunteer group 'Ndolpin,' paid tribute to the fallen heroes. The initiative focused on replacing plastic artificial flowers with fresh, locally sourced chrysanthemums to reduce environmental impact and foster a more sustainable approach to remembrance. Beyond promoting environmental consciousness, the event provided crucial support to South Korea's flower farmers. NH NongHyup sourced all 100,000 chrysanthemums from domestic cultivators, thereby expanding sales channels for farmers struggling with decreased consumption and rising operational costs. This move highlights NongHyup's commitment to supporting the agricultural sector while honoring national heroes. Kang Ho-dong emphasized the dual benefit of the initiative: "Presenting our respects with domestic fresh flowers instead of plastic artificial ones is a gesture of reverence for our war heroes, an act of environmental protection, and a practice that safeguards our agriculture." He pledged NongHyup's continued efforts to promote eco-friendly mourning practices and boost the consumption of domestic flowers. NongHyup has maintained a partnership with the Seoul National Cemetery since 2012, conducting regular floral tributes and volunteer activities.
