Nice: Two arrested for attempting to start a fire

Authorities in Nice, France, have arrested two individuals on suspicion of attempting to start a fire in the Mont Boron area. The arrests occurred early Thursday morning, August 6, around 4 a.m., according to Sabine Neale, deputy public prosecutor of Nice.

The incident involved an attempt to ignite vegetation using an flammable liquid on the Mont Boron forest road. Éric Ciotti, the mayor of Nice, first reported the event on social media, stating that "this night, on the forest road of Mont Boron, an individual tried to set fire to the vegetation with an flammable liquid before fleeing."

Law enforcement officers reportedly apprehended two men, identified as a French national and a Chechen national. They have been placed in custody for "degradation or destruction by fire of wood, forest, heathland, scrubland or other people's plantations which may cause harm to people," the prosecutor's office confirmed.
