Nicole Kidman Celebrates 150th Anniversary of Former Sydney School

Academy Award-winner Nicole Kidman has sent a heartfelt message to her former primary school in Sydney, Lane Cove Public School, as it celebrated its 150th anniversary. The actress, currently in Santorini, Greece, shared her well wishes via a video recording played during the school's anniversary open day on Friday.

The milestone event drew hundreds of attendees, including former students and teachers. Among them was Channel Nine presenter Peter Overton, who was a school captain in 1977. Overton reminisced about his time at the school, recalling teachers and expressing his happiness at having attended the institution. He also shared Kidman's birthday wishes with the audience.

Meredith Lucas, a classmate of Kidman's who attended the school from 1973 to 1979, also returned for the celebration. Lucas recalled singing in the choir with Kidman and praised the actress's success, attributing it to her natural talent, hard work, and supportive community. "She's a natural talent, she's a hard worker, she came from a good family and a good community," Lucas said. "And I have watched her career from afar and I feel like she's done amazingly well in a very tough environment, being film and media."

Lane Cove Public School principal Terry McKinnon expressed pride in both current and former students, particularly Kidman. We're extremely proud of her, as we are of all our alumni." The school, founded in 1876, highlighted its strong creative arts and music programs.
