Niger Governor Appoints Kuso as Niger Tornadoes Chairman

Governor Mohammed Bago of Niger State has appointed Abubakar Kuso to lead the management committee of the Nigeria Premier Football League club, Niger Tornadoes F.C. The announcement, made Saturday, signifies an immediate change in the Minna-based team's leadership. Governor Bago, often called the “Farmer Governor,” expressed strong confidence in Kuso's capacity to revitalize the club through effective and forward-thinking management. He anticipates Kuso will leverage his expertise to restore the team to its former prominence.

The governor urged the club's management team to provide full support to Kuso, emphasizing collective effort for the team's advancement. Kuso succeeds Ibrahim Dada, who resigned to pursue a federal legislative seat. Beyond his new role in football, Kuso holds a significant position as Executive Director of Planning and Design at the Upper Niger River Basin Development Authority, overseeing development projects across Niger, Kaduna, and the Federal Capital Territory.

This leadership change occurs as Niger Tornadoes strive to enhance their administrative framework and improve their standing in domestic football. The club concluded the previous season in 14th place and is looking to achieve a more successful outcome in the upcoming 2026/27 season. Kuso's appointment is seen as a strategic move to bring renewed focus and drive to the team's performance and overall management.
