Nigeria drug agency finds Ecstasy hidden in bicycle carriers bound for Europe

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Nigeria has intercepted a significant quantity of illicit drugs, specifically hundreds of MDMA pills, commonly known as Ecstasy. These drugs were cleverly concealed within bicycle luggage carriers intended for shipment to Europe.

NDLEA's Director for Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, revealed the seizure in a recent alert on X. He issued a stern warning to the public, urging individuals not to accept any parcels or luggage unless they are aware of the contents and were present when they were packed. This caution comes as the agency continues to combat sophisticated drug trafficking operations.

Operatives discovered the hidden Ecstasy pills during a recent operation, uncovering the innovative methods employed by drug syndicates. The NDLEA emphasized that individuals who unknowingly transport such items risk severe legal consequences if illicit substances are found in their possession. "Always remember, possession makes you liable!" the agency stated.

Drug trafficking networks are constantly devising new ways to conceal narcotics, with the NDLEA previously reporting the use of items like lipsticks, prayer beads, yogurt packs, MP3 players, children's toys, and vehicle side mirrors for smuggling. The agency highlighted the "crazy" ingenuity of these networks in using everyday objects for concealment, as demonstrated by the recent discovery in bicycle carriers.
