Nigeria Launches Training for 300 Graduates in Oil and Gas Engineering

The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), in collaboration with Renaissance Africa Energy Company Limited, has initiated a specialized human capital development program targeting 300 young Nigerians. This program is specifically designed to equip participants with crucial industry-relevant skills in mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation engineering, preparing them for careers in the vital oil and gas sector.

Under the NCDMB–Renaissance Oil and Gas Field Readiness Training Programme, the initiative seeks to provide young Nigerian graduates with the technical and professional competencies necessary for success in the energy industry. Felix Ogbe, the Executive Secretary of NCDMB, emphasized that the program aligns with the board's core mandate of fostering local capacity and increasing Nigerian involvement in the oil and gas sector, thereby contributing to economic growth.

Represented at the kickoff ceremony by Mr. Tari Bufazi, Assistant Manager for Human Capacity Development, Ogbe highlighted that the trainees will gain practical, hands-on industry exposure. This experience will culminate in globally recognized certifications, enhancing their employability and professional standing. "This is more than the commencement of a training programme. It is the beginning of a journey for young Nigerians who will acquire world-class skills in mechanical, instrumentation and electrical disciplines," Ogbe stated.

Ogbe further stressed the importance of specialized skills in automation, instrumentation, and engineering operations, particularly as the industry prepares for new investment projects. He noted that these foundational engineering disciplines are critical for the safe, efficient, and profitable exploitation of Nigeria’s petroleum resources. The training program is thus intended to bridge existing skill gaps and ensure participants are well-prepared to meet the evolving demands of the industry.
