Nigeria NSCDC arrests two suspected railway, cable vandals in Kano

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kano State has apprehended two individuals suspected of vandalizing critical national assets. The arrests were made in separate intelligence-led operations in Kumbotso and Nassarawa Local Government Areas.

Our operatives arrested two suspected vandals in separate intelligence-led operations carried out at Panshekara in Kumbotso Local Government Area and Yankaba in Nassarawa Local Government Area of Kano State.

State Commandant Mohammed Agalama confirmed the detentions, identifying the suspects as Gath Gamaliel, 22, and Salisu Jibrin, 31. Gamaliel was allegedly found with 17 vandalized railway clips, while Jibrin, suspected of receiving stolen property, was apprehended with approximately 60 kilograms of suspected vandalized copper wire.

Gath Gamaliel was found in possession of 17 vandalised railway clips at Panshekara, while Salisu Jibrin, a suspected receiver of stolen property, was apprehended at Yankaba when he turned up to collect approximately 60 kilograms of suspected vandalised copper wire.

Agalama stated that the recovered items were believed to have been illegally removed from public infrastructure. He emphasized the NSCDC's commitment to combating vandalism and economic crimes that hinder national development. Investigations are ongoing to identify other syndicate members, with suspects to be charged in court.
