Nigeria Security Corps intercepts rustled cow, arrests two in Kano

Authorities in Kano State have apprehended two individuals suspected of cattle rustling. Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) intercepted a vehicle carrying a cow under suspicious circumstances.

The suspects, Jamilu Sa’adu, 45, and Nura Abdullahi, 37, were apprehended in the early hours of Tuesday at about 0300hrs while conveying a suspected rustled cow in a Sharon Galaxy vehicle with registration number JJN 606 AE.

The arrests occurred at a mining checkpoint on the Tudun Wada–Kiru Road in Kiru Local Government Area. According to a statement from the NSCDC Kano State Command's Public Relations Officer, Ibrahim Abdullahi, the suspects, identified as Jamilu Sa’adu, 45, and Nura Abdullahi, 37, were apprehended early Tuesday morning. They were found transporting a cow concealed in the rear of a Sharon Galaxy vehicle.

During the interception, two other individuals believed to be accomplices fled the scene upon spotting the NSCDC operatives. Efforts are currently underway to track down and arrest these fugitives. The NSCDC has secured the arrested suspects, the cow, and two machetes found in the vehicle as exhibits.

Two other suspected accomplices, believed to be the principal suspects, took to their heels upon sighting the operatives and are currently at large. Efforts are underway to apprehend them.

An investigation has been launched to determine the full details of the alleged cattle rustling and to identify the rightful owner of the animal. The NSCDC Kano State Command has assured the public that the suspects will be prosecuted upon the conclusion of the investigation, reinforcing their commitment to combating criminal activities within the state.
