Nigeria to begin passport intervention exercise in four UK cities

Nigerians living in the United Kingdom will be able to access passport services in four cities during a special exercise organized by the Nigeria Immigration Service.

The NIS said its Passport Intervention Team, dispatched from its headquarters in Abuja, will provide services in London, Manchester, Aberdeen and Cardiff. The exercise will cover new passport applications, renewals and pending applications.

All eligible Nigerians in the specified locations, including surrounding areas, who wish to obtain new passports, renew their passports, or resolve pending applications are encouraged to take advantage of the exercise and visit the designated venues on the scheduled dates.

The London and Manchester sessions will run from September 7 to 19, 2026. The Aberdeen and Cardiff sessions will follow from September 21 to 26. Designated venues include Layali Lounge in London, Nigerian House in Manchester, Hilton Convention Centre in Aberdeen and Sophia Gardens in Cardiff.

The agency said the exercise follows a directive from Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo and consultations with the Nigerian High Commission and Nigerian community representatives in the UK. Applicants must complete their applications and pay through the NIS Passport Application portal before attending. They must bring their completed forms, payment slips, appointment slips and a self-addressed return envelope. The NIS said applicants who bring cash will not be served, while its digital application channels and home delivery service will remain available.
