Nigeria, US Forces Eliminate Over 20 ISIS/ISWAP Fighters in Joint Operations

Nigeria's military, in collaboration with the United States Africa Command, has reported a significant success in the ongoing fight against terrorism. Coordinated operations have resulted in the elimination of more than 20 ISIS/ISWAP fighters, a testament to the strengthened partnership between Nigerian and US forces.

The Defence Headquarters, in close coordination with United States Africa Command, wish to update the general public on the continuation of coordinated operations against ISIS militants across the North East Nigeria, with additional air strike operations successfully executed in the general area of Metele.

The Defence Headquarters stated that air strikes were conducted in the Metele area following the observation of terrorist convergence. This action is part of a sustained effort to dismantle terrorist networks, degrade their capabilities, and prevent the establishment of safe havens within Nigeria and the broader Sahel region. The operation follows the earlier neutralization of ISIS commander Abu-Bilal al-Minuki.
